Optional · Read-only MCP

Choose your AI tool.
Keep control of access.

You do not need an AI tool to browse your data in HealthFold. If you want AI-assisted questions, choose a Mac client that supports local stdio MCP servers.

How to connect

  1. Install HealthFold for Mac, pair your iPhone and wait for your first sync.
  2. In HealthFold's Connect AI tab, copy the MCP connection instructions. They include the exact local executable path for your Mac.
  3. Add the server using your chosen client's supported configuration. The name is healthfold, transport is stdio, with no arguments, environment variables, API key or network port required by HealthFold.
  4. Ask the client to call list_persons to verify the connection, then get_overview to read the data-coverage notice before asking about measurements.

Common client formats

Claude Desktop, Cursor and Cherry Studio commonly use JSON MCP settings. Claude Code offers a command-line MCP setup. Codex uses TOML configuration. Follow the current instructions in your chosen client; configuration formats and product availability can change.

The executable path contains Application Support, including a space. Quote it correctly. HealthFold does not modify another app's configuration automatically.

Read the AI provider's privacy terms first. HealthFold's server reads your local data only, but a cloud-based AI client may send the returned data to its provider. Only connect a client you trust. Review accesses in HealthFold's local AI access log, and remove the MCP configuration to stop future access.

Example questions: “How did my sleep duration change over the last month?” or “Compare my runs this week with last month.” Missing measurements mean data was not collected or made available, not a health finding. HealthFold does not provide diagnoses.
