FoxTake Troubleshooting: Camera, Microphone, Captions and Saving

By the DeskFox.Ai team · Published · FoxTake 2.1

When a FoxTake task fails, identify the stage first: camera recording, speech recognition, online AI, rendering or saving. Check the relevant permission or dependency, keep the original media, and record the exact error before contacting support.

Access and credit information updated for FoxTake 2.1 on October 24, 2026, using the US App Store description and Terms of Use. Read the credit rules. Existing screenshots and workflow evidence retain their original versions; this update is not a new device or purchase test.

Record the context before changing anything

Note your iPhone model, iOS version, FoxTake version and the action you attempted. Keep the exact error text and whether the issue repeats on a short non-sensitive test. Avoid deleting the app or source recordings as a first troubleshooting step.

Do not assume a black preview, failed translation and missing export share one cause. Narrowing the stage makes a useful support report.

Black preview or recording will not start

Check FoxTake's camera and microphone permissions in iPhone Settings. Return to the app and try a short recording. If necessary, close and reopen it and check available storage.

If the preview is still black, note which camera is selected, whether switching cameras changes it, and whether the issue follows returning from the background. Report those observations rather than assuming a denied permission explains every case.

Missing sound or speech features unavailable

Play the saved short test and check playback volume as well as microphone access. If sound exists but captions, dictation or Voice Follow do not work, check the spoken language and available device resources. Voice Follow and one-tap video with captions use credits; supported on-device dictation does not use credits.

Interface localization is not a speech-support list. For unavailable recognition, use typed or pasted scripts and ordinary recording; cloud audio transcription is not currently offered as an automatic substitute.

AI or translation did not finish

Read the specific message. Check connection, agreement to processing terms, available credits and the specific error message. Online AI also has daily usage protection. Where supported, on-device results remain available; unavailable languages are not automatically fixed by that fallback. On-device processing does not remove the credit requirements of credit-based features.

If second captions are absent, do not publish assuming the translation is hidden somewhere in the video. Inspect the actual result and retry only when the reported dependency is addressed.

The result is missing from Photos or Files

Check Photos add permission and storage. A rendering result, a saved Photos item and a delivered share attachment are different stages. If the result screen reports a Photos save error and offers Try Saving Again, address the issue and use that action.

For SRT or a project ZIP, check the destination chosen in the system sharing panel. A video saved to Photos does not include a separately delivered subtitle file. Open the receiving folder to verify the file, not only its name in a share preview.

Send a useful support report

Email foxtake@getbot.me with the device and version details, failure stage, exact message and brief reproduction steps. State what still works and what you already tried. Share private scripts or recordings only if you choose to provide them; a non-sensitive reproduction is preferable when possible.
